Philippines Govt.Agency Seeks Compensation From IBM
Government Service Insurance System, or GSIS, said it has sent a final demand letter to IBM Corp. (IBM), seeking compensation for supplying the Philippine state pension fund with allegedly defective software.
IBM's database management software,IBM DB2, was supplied and installed a few years ago but started showing problems in early 2008, GSIS Chief Legal Counsel Estrella Elamparo said in a statement.

IBM spends $2M on lobbying
IBM spent more than $2 million on lobbying in the first quarter, slightly more than the $1.9 million spent in the first quarter of 2008, and almost double the $1.1 million in lobbying expenditures during the fourth quarter of 2008.
IBM already does big business with the U.S. government.In 2007, IBM scooped up $1.4 billion in federal contracts, making it 35th on the list of top 100 contractors for US Government.
